mE aND mY fRieNDs

another thing I don't understand are best friends.
i mean everything about them. who they're supposed to be and how they're made.

i was so bad at making best friends as a kid, my mom wud give me advice
"stick close to her for like a month and keep telling her she's your best friend"
[ thats called STALKING MOM!! :-/ ppl don't really like that... ]

i tried the telling ppl they were my best friend many times though.. didnt exactly work as planned...

"your my closest and best friend. who's your best friend?" [ to a girl i knew for 4 yrs and my then roomie [[ hi N!! ]] ]
"oh its Sonali"
[ huh? ] "who's Sonali??" [ omg! who is this female ??? i've known you like FOUR YEARS! and not ONCE have u mentioned her... and now suddenly SHE'S your best friend???? eeeee ]
"she's this girl i knew in primary school. i haven't spoken to her in 6 years."
[ OMG i was trumped by a girl u haven't seen nor heard from in SIX YEARS???? ]
"hmmmmmph" [ you DO know that your demoted to friendly aquaintance from now on ... ]

the ending of that story was that i insisted my roomie show me atleast a pic or SOMETHINg of that girl. i finally was introduced to her 'best friend' over the summer break.
hey! i cud have taken her.... hmmmph.

other times i tried my mom's winning formula :-/ -
"i think your cool. your like my best friend"
"i'm moving away to Nigeria forever"

"hey, don't say that about her. she's my best friend"
"she thinks your wierd"

i don't get it... so who ARE these best friends ppl have?? how do they become best friends??? i mean i had close friends who then got busy with their gf or bf. then i had close friends who moved away... or got married or stuff like that...

so is it like, someone you speak to everyday?? is it like, someone who's in regular contact with you irrespective of geographical locations or in which relationship they are in currently ??

by THAT definition all YOU PPL are my best friends!!! [ oh u KNEW i was heading here right from the start dindja?? :P man it was an easy joke set up! ]

but as a visiting alien, i'm curious about this phenomenon of what you earthlings like to call best friendships....

hmmm A defines it as someone you can call at 4 in the morning and cry on their shoulder [ boy am i glad i'm not YOUR best friend.. i mean who wants to listen to you weeping at FOUR AM??? ]

S defines it as someone who you HAVE to talk to every single day... [ oh then thats definitely the 15 ppl who read my blog everyday ]

L defines it as someone who loves you inspite of ALL your faults [ oh THEN its those 8 ppl who don't mind my spelling abominations... ]

R says its someone who listens to you and loves you no matter what [ THAT leaves only delilah and she's a potted plant. the only reason SHE sticks around no matter what is, coz she's got no legs to run away... ]

and a whole bunch of others am too lazy to type :P
interesting huh?? my bestest friend right now that satisfies all your crummy criterion is Delilah, the potted daisy.
